Great news...

I'm so excited... Yorkshire Yarns (www.yorkshireyarns.com) in Lakewood will now be carrying some of my knitting accessory products. A BIG thank you to Sonya! We will also be at the Mariner's stitch'n pitch event on August 27th with YY. I'll be working my "you know what" off until then trying to get some things ready. Guess I won't be doing much knitting after all. I hope to see some of you there!

BTW... who in the world ordered all this HOT weather? I think my Mom and Dad brought it with them from Arizona! I hope it cools off some soon! I think I have lost at least 5 lbs in the last day or two just from sweating :) Keep cool out there!

Tacoma Rainiers Stitch 'N Pitch Event...

Last night was so much fun despite the freezing cold wind that totally messed up my hair and tried to blow away our products. What in the world happened to our sun? I hope it comes back soon. The Rainiers won, by a landslide, and we met a lot of really nice people. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful comments (and purchases) on our products. We now have our website up and running, but please keep in mind that it is still a work in progress and we will be adding pictures of new and existing products often. We don't have a "shopping" feature set up yet but if you are interested in any of our products just send me an email and I will contact you. Check it out, any comments or suggestions are always gladly accepted.

I'm looking forward to next year's stitch 'n pitch event and I hope to get out and do more shows this year. But, now that the stress of this event is over it's back to knitting, I've sure missed it the last few weeks. I hope to get some new projects posted soon. Thanks again to everyone who turned out for the stitch 'n pitch. I hope you all had fun!

Stitch 'N Pitch...

Oh my... what a change in the weather, a nice change but boy oh boy you just can never tell in Washington what the weather will be like. At least I won't be sitting in 100 degree weather tonight at the stith 'n pitch, which makes me very happy. I've been busy trying to get last minute stuff done and pulled an "almost" all nighter, I slept for about 2 hours. Now I just need my coffee!

Here is a little sneak peek of some of the products I will have in our booth tonight. Hope you can make it. Tomorrow is back to knitting... finally!

Much needed break...

Yesterday we took a much needed break from crafting and headed to the pool with knitting buddies Lisa and Leslie. The kids had a blast and lasted the whole 5 hours in the pool. It was great to sit, relax, chat and knit for a while. Of course I was still working on my Stitch 'N Pitch stuff even at the pool. It was great to catch up with friends and soak up some sun. A little too much sun though, my legs and arms are fried but luckily I found an umbrella that attached to my chair to keep my face out of the sun (I hate to say this but it was only $2 at Wal-Mart, my least favorite store). I'm sure glad I had that, even though my kids thought I was kind of nerdy with it. Oh well... when you have Rosacea you do what you have to do. I'm still working on mini sock, that is the extent of my knitting for the last few weeks. Can't wait to start something new once Stitch 'N Pitch is over. Hope to see you there!

Getting ready...

These little socks are the most recent knitting project I've been working on. These have to do with the Stitch N' Pitch event, you'll have to come on down to the game to see how they will be used. I continue to work on projects daily trying to get enough products made. I just hope that everyone likes them. It's going to be a fun event so get your tickets now. Hope to see you there... don't forget to stop by our booth! I'll be posting pictures all of my products soon as well as my new website so check back often.

Christmas in July...

Christmas knitting has officially begun in my house. My first project was a pair of mittens for my daughters teacher. This was such an easy project but it caused many headaches. I ended up ripping out my first glove twice but got it right on the third try... or so I thought. The first one was perfect until I made the second one... I'm not sure what I did, just miscounting I guess, but the second one turned out bigger than the first. Maybe I was knitting looser? They both seem to fit OK though, just one is longer. I have enough yarn to make another one so I might do that to see how it turns out and to see which one it matches. Anyway, the pattern was free on Ravelry. Gotta love Ravelry with all its free patterns.

The pattern can be found at http://www.chroniclebooks.com/Chronicle/excerpt/0811835332-e2.html. I did make some adjustments... 1) I went up to size 7 and 8 in needles after trying the 4 & 5 the pattern called for and 5 & 6 because the glove was way too tight, 2) I used a Kitchener stitch at the top instead of weaving the yarn through the last sts and pulling (I don't usually like the way that looks unless I'm making a hat) and 3) I only knit 10 rounds on the thumb instead of 14 otherwise the thumb would have been way too big. The pattern doesn't give you a swatch gauge so play around with your yarn first to make sure your glove won't be too tight.

The yarn is from Punta Yarns, Merisoft Hand Painted, I love this yarn. My yarn is colour HP50, it has several different colors of green mixed with white and cream, very pretty! The pictures, of course, don't really do it justice. The yarn is soft and wonderful to work with.

In the end, the pattern was really easy to follow and to memorize. I think it was perfect for my first pair of mittens. Now I just need to make myself a pair!
